Jean Droit - French Artist & Illustrator  (1884-1961)

Introduction

He was a painter, illustrator, publicist writer, scout, teacher and outstanding educator, a great friend of youth. Contemporary of Lord Baden Powell , he is a founding pioneers of Scouting in France and Belgium . His totem was: "Wolf Chatterbox"

His Work

From his early youth, he appeared as a born artist, watercolorist first. By 1911, the first exhibition of watercolors by John Law at the Galerie du Roy, in Brussels. His posters and illustrations published by numerous magazines and books luxury were universally known and appreciated. Shortly before 1914 , he designed boards held on the Belgian Army .

Upon his return to France, he is an artist at the Manufacture de Sèvres, he resumed his artistic and educational activities. Soon famous for his posters, he knows Paris glowing favor. It multiplies exhibitions in his country and home. Many of his works are in the Royal Army Museum in Brussels. He is also the creator of wall decorations and designs for the Piazza editor.

It contributes to the culture through drawings, paintings endowed with great power of evocation, for his many books of fantasy or science popularization woods.

His works, often marked with this refinement of the Belle Époque, a subtle shade of romanticism

His most famous works are of WW1 soldiers, the Olympic posters, Medical Series, The Martini and Rossi ad's and of course his Risque' nudes for magazines.
